STOCKTON-
Stockton Police are asking residents to not fire their guns into the air on New Year’s Eve.
“Sadly, it can often have tragic results when innocent people are hit by the bullets and injured or killed,” the department wrote in a Facebook post. “The reality is that any bullet discharged from a gun, even into the sky, must land at some location, and the risks are significant for injury or death.”
Officers will patrol neighborhoods known for high volumes of shots fired calls on New Year’s Eve. Not only do officers say they will respond to shots fired calls, but ‘ShotSpotter’ activations as well.
