Two entertainment icons are set to be recognized at The Hollywood Reporter’s 2013 Key Art Awards October 24 in Los Angeles.
Stan Lee, POW! Entertainment founder and chief creative officer, and Academy Award-winning film composer Hans Zimmer will be named this year’s Honorary Key Art Award recipients at the entertainment industry’s most recognized awards competition for advertising and communications.
“With legendary careers that have earned both men name recognition far beyond the entertainment industry, Stan Lee and Hans Zimmer have continued to push the boundaries of creativity in entertainment,” says Janice Min, editorial director, The Hollywood Reporter. “We are thrilled to present Zimmer and Lee with this year’s Honorary Key Art Awards.”
The Honorary Key Art Award, introduced in 2012, is given to a member of the industry who, over the span of a career, has influenced the entertainment business worldwide through extraordinary creativity in advertising and marketing.

Lee is a legend in the comic book industry, and has co-created hundreds of characters, including Spider-Man, The Avengers, X-Men, Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk and the Fantastic Four. He remains chairman emeritus of Marvel and helped create feature film scripts including Annihilator, with Magic Storm Entertainment, and Prodigal. In addition, he created the Indian superhero franchise Chakra The Invincible and has numerous projects in development at POW! Entertainment.
“It’s incredibly humbling to be recognized by The Hollywood Reporter and to be given the Key Art Award for my work over the years,” says Lee. “As a writer and creator there is nothing more rewarding then seeing your life’s work impact and inspire such a large group of people.”
Zimmer is widely considered to be among the great composers of our time. He was awarded the best original score Oscar for The Lion King and has also won two Golden Globes and four Grammy Awards. He has composed for more than 100 films, including Rain Man, Driving Miss Daisy, As Good As It Gets, The Pirates of the Caribbean, Gladiator, The Dark Knight Rises and Man of Steel.

“I am honored to receive this recognition from the Key Arts Awards,” said Zimmer. “I have had the opportunity to collaborate and be inspired by so many talented artists across the entertainment industry, and I am very grateful to join in this celebration of creativity.”
Veteran photographer Frank W. Ockenfels 3 received the inaugural Honorary Key Art Award in 2012 for his works of imagery in movies posters, musician’s photo shoots, albums and TV spots.
The Hollywood Reporter’s Key Art Awards are managed by the CLIO Awards team and are considered an emblem for the entertainment industry’s advertising and communications fields.
The 2013 Hollywood Reporter Key Art Awards will take place on October 24 at The TCL Chinese Theatre. Tickets can be purchased at keyartaward.com.
