RANCHO CORDOVA—

Sacramento Metro Fire officials are saying that a grass fire that spread to a garage early Sunday afternoon is suspicious in nature.

Fire crews showed up to a home near Rod Beaudry Drive and Folsom Boulevard around 12:30 p.m. after a reported grass fire, according to a release from Metro Fire.

While on their way crews spotted a large black column of smoke, sparking a call for more help.

Crews soon found that the attic of a garage along E. Tiffany Lane, off of Rod Beaudry Drive, was on fire.

Firefighting efforts were complicated by access issues. However, crews were able to hold the fire to the garage and save the home.

Metro Fire estimates that they saved $1.5 million in property. The garage was a complete loss, though.

No one was injured in the fire. Investigators are looking into the cause of the fire.
