Hollywood’s sleazy season has arrived, according to a conservative watchdog group set to publish its list of the 11 “porniest” movies released recently or slated for the near future.
“There won’t be much in theaters this fall for kids – or adults not entertained by graphic, seedy, dysfunctional sex,” writes Katie Yoder of the Culture and Media Institute, a division of the Media Research Center.

Topping the list of 11 movies that the group likens to near-pornography is Don Jon, which stars Scarlett Johansson and Joseph Gordon-Levitt and opened Sept. 27. The pivotal scene, according to the report, is when Johansson’s character walks in on Gordon-Levitt’s character while he masturbates. The study links to a Gordon-Levitt interview where the actor declares, “Porn’s fine.”
Blue Is the Warmest Color, which won the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival, is second on the list. The movie features a 10-minute lesbian sex scene between the adult Emma and 15-year-old Adele (played by 19-year-old actress Adele Exarchopoulos) that required 10 days to shoot. “One thing the critics won’t say amidst their praise: While Adele meets the age of consent in France, her relationship in the United States constitutes statutory rape,” the study says.

Child of God, which opened over the weekend and is about a man who likes to have sex with dead people, is No. 3 on the list. The study links to star James Franco telling USA Today, “It’s a little strange to admit but there’s something about necrophilia — I don’t want to sound like a weirdo — but the art was very interesting to me.”
The fourth movie on the list, Palo Alto, which opened a month ago, also stars Franco and is based on a book he wrote. It’s about a soccer coach who seduces a high school student.
The rest of the list shakes out like so:
A Teacher — A female teacher who sleeps with a male student.
Adore — Two female friends, each of whom sleeps with the other’s son.
Afternoon Delight – A woman who uses strippers to “fix” her love life with her husband.
Concussion – A lesbian housewife becomes a hooker after a head injury.
Kill Your Darlings – Daniel Radcliffe as poet Allen Ginsberg in a film with gay love scenes.
Thanks for Sharing – Mark Ruffalo and Gwyneth Paltrow play recovering sex addicts.
Delivery Man – Vince Vaughn plays a sperm donor who fathers 533 children.
“Tinsel Town’s lack of creative imagination makes it seem like writers, producers and directors have no choice but to return to sex again and again,” the report concludes.
