It’s not all smooth sailing as Wendy Williams heads to Broadway.
With the talk show maven battling a throat infection days before her Chicago debut, Williams is devastated to learn that her big performance will have to wait. Luckily, the New Jersey native has a friend in former Chicago star Christie Brinkley.

In an exclusive clip from Williams’ TV Guide Network docuseries, How You Doin’ Broadway?!, Williams finds comfort in a champagne lunch with the supermodel.
“It’s New York’s newest Broadway baby,” Brinkley exclaims, megawatt smile perfectly in place, as she arrives at Williams’ hotel.
As Williams confesses that she “cried like a 5-year-old” when she learned that her Broadway start would be delayed, Brinkley — who previously played Roxie Hart in the classic musical — says that she too had to postpone her first performance.

“Everything seems to go wrong right before your opening night,” she sympathized.
As for Williams, who will be seen balancing the role of Mama Morton for a seven-week run while continuing to host The Wendy Williams Show, Chicago has proven to be “the most challenging thing I’ve ever done in my career.”
Williams’ How You Doin’ Broadway?! is set to debut on TVGN on Wednesday, Oct. 2, at 8 p.m. The docuseries is produced by Wendy Williams Productions.
