How a bunion is surgically corrected ?

A Bunion, known medically as a Hallux Valgus deformity, is typically treated surgically by means of a bunionectomy. This type of bunion surgery uses a series of bone cuts and bone screws to realign the first metatarsal with the big toe (metatarsals are the long bones in the foot). Alternatively, a surgeon may choose to fuse the metatarsal or fuse the joint. Bunion surgeries of this kind necessarily require the patient to be off their feet for a period of time, followed by a significant recovery period. In some cases, patients experience significant pain and other unpleasant complications.

Request an evaluation to learn if your bunion can be corrected. You may also call 610-330-9740 to schedule an appointment with one of our physicians.
