Michael Nyqvist is starring in the comedy/drama My So-Called Father opposite Swedish actress Vera Vitali. Ulf Malmros wrote and is directing the film, which is currently shooting in Sweden with Jan Blomgren of Bob Film Sweden AB producing.
Nyqvist is scheduled to visit Cannes on May 18 in support of the film, which Bob Film Sweden will be selling. Disney/Buena Vista has already picked up rights to Scandinavia, where the film will be released in the fall of 2014.

My So-Called Father is being produced by Blomgren in co-production with Film I Vast, The Walt Disney Company Nordic, TV4, Molkom Film, GEL Investment, Nordsvensk and in association with Beachrose LTD, The Chimney Pot, Nyqvist Film and with production support from the Swedish Film Institute.
The project centers around a self-involved, arrogant man, played by Nyqvist, who suffers a stroke and no longer remembers who he is. His estranged daughter Malin (Vitali) seizes the opportunity to create the father she always longed for.
Nyqvist, who played journalist Mikael Blomkvist in the Swedish film series based on Steig Larrson’s Millennium Trilogy, has also appeared in Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, Disconnect and Christian Camargo’s upcoming untitled project, starring Katie Holmes and William Hurt.
Malmros’ credits include A Summer Tale, The Wedding Photographer, Slim Susie and Mommy’s Boys.
