The first teaser for The Counselor, Ridley Scott‘s next film — his first since 2012’s Prometheus — has hit the web. Unfortunately, all text and dialogue in it has been translated to Russian for what looks to be an international trailer. But the basics are all here.
From a screenplay by celebrated novelist Cormac McCarthy (The Road), The Counselor features a megawatt cast that includes Brad Pitt, Michael Fassbender, Javier Bardem, Cameron Diaz and Penelope Cruz.
In the moody, stylized thriller, Bardem is back once again as a menacing presence with a strange hairdo — shades of No Country for Old Men and Skyfall, anyone? — playing the wealthy acquaintance of a lawyer (Fassbender) who gets involved in a drug deal. Pitt plays a thug who brokers the arrangement. Cruz plays Fassbender’s love interest, while Diaz is Bardem’s.
Fox 2000 plans to release The Counselor on Oct. 25.
