SACRAMENTO-

Just when you thought it was over, holiday shoppers are still out in force.

“There’s three things [shoppers] are gonna do here. They’re gonna bring back gift cards, they’re gonna shop with gift cards, they’re gonna bring back returns.” Arden Mall Security Director Steve Reed said.

But shoppers beware: before you make that trek back to the mall, check the store’s return policy. Businesses have gotten a lot stricter on its returns to protect against fraud, which amounts to billions of dollars each year in lost revenue.

So find those receipts, because many stores won’t refund money without them. And there’s usually a 30-day limit to get cash back.

By 5:30 Thursday, 38,000 shoppers visited Arden Mall. The mall closed by 9. They were expected to reach last year’s number of 48,000.
