Fire officials are saying that an oven explosion at the Santa Rita Jail has injured nearly a dozen people.

Crews showed up at the jail, located on Broder Boulevard in rural Dublin, a little after 11:40 a.m. after a report of an oven explosion, Alameda County officials say.

No fire was found in the kitchen, but the reported explosion caused multiple injuries.

One person suffered critical injuries. A total of 11 patients are being treated, according to Alameda County Fire officials. Four have been taken to local hospitals while the other seven have been taken to the infirmary at the jail.

The Alameda County Sheriff’s Office and fire officials are looking into what caused the explosion.
