MODESTO-

A skateboarder in Modesto was stabbed to death Sunday afternoon, police say.

Sunday at around 3 p.m., 25-year-old Trevor Bolton was riding his skateboard with a friend and a young boy. They were right by the Sutter Gould Medical Foundation on Coffee Road, just two blocks from his house.

“The suspect pulled into the parking lot and confronted the victim and a scuffle ensued,” Heather Graves of the Modesto Police Department said. “Then the suspect stabbed the victim several times.”

Witnesses said it all began with a simple exchange of words. But it soon escalated into a tragedy.

“There may have been words exchanged about the speed the car was going and the skateboarders being in the roadway,” Graves said.

Security on scene apprehended the suspect, 23-year-oold David Cutler, until police arrived.

Bolton went through surgery, but did not survive.

Friends of the victim told FOX40 Bolton was a bright and caring young man, studying to become a real estate agent. They said they do not understand why anyone would resort to killing their friend.

“At this point it sounds like it is random that they did not know each other prior,” Graves said.

Cutler was originally booked into jail for attempted murder. But since Bolton’s passing, he now faces murder charges.
