Breaking Delivers the News to Your Mac or iPhone Notification Center

OS X/iOS: Keeping up with the news is easy, but keeping up with news you care about can be trickier. Breaking is a new app that makes it easier. Simply add the sites that give you news you like to read, and stores from them will appear in your notifications center or drop-down on your Mac or iOS device.

The video above shows you pretty much how the app works, but the gist is simple. Simply tell Breaking which sites you want to get headlines from—names and URLs are fine, you don't need to go hunting for the feed URL—and Breaking will add them, and show you headlines in your Today View—the calendar side of the new Notification Center. You'll see them along with your other appointments for the day, but you won't get alerts or anything. They'll appear as the headlines come up, and it only displays the five most recent stories from each of your feeds so the view isn't too cluttered. You can, however, add as many sites as you want to the list.

To be fair, the idea isn't terribly new—apps like Monotony, which we've checked out before also do it (for free, too), and previously mentioned NewsBee and FreshFeed both add feeds to your menubar. Breaking, however, is designed for iOS and Yosemite, works specifically with Notifications center, and finds your feeds for you automatically.

Breaking is from the same team behind previously mentioned apps like Haze and Be My Eyes, another app we love, and both apps with the goal of generally making people's lives better. With luck, this one will too. Hit the link below to give it a whirl.
