Not everyone is impressed by the recent Power Rangers fan film.
Jason David Frank, who played the Green Ranger in the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers series, posted a video to Facebook in which he criticizes the popular Joseph Kahn-directed short, which stars James Van Der Beek and Katee Sackhoff.

“I know there’s a lot of fans out there that love it and all that stuff, but I’m just a PG-13 guy,” Frank said. “The cuss words, the drugs, all this other stuff — it doesn’t fly with me.”
Frank said he was approached to appear in the short, but he declined, as he felt that the new take was too harsh for younger viewers. “The problem is that [Power Rangers is] still connected with adults and kids,” he said. “You can’t take a brand like this and reboot it so dark and gritty.”

Frank said he doesn’t regret passing on the short, despite it having gone viral, as he hopes to appear in the official Power Rangers feature film, which Lionsgate is currently developing for a planned 2016 release. Indeed, Vimeo removed the short after a complaint from Saban Brands, owner of the Power Rangers rights.
His response can be seen below.
