An Elk Grove man was arrested early Wednesday morning after he led police on a three-mile vehicle pursuit.

According to Elk Grove Police, 36-year old Justin Robert Hicks was involved in a collision with another vehicle. When the driver of the other vehicle approached Hicks', the suspect brandished a gun.

Officers dispatched to the area located Hicks in the described vehicle parked on the roadway. Hicks did not comply with instructions to leave his vehicle and then led the officers on a 3.1 mile pursuit.

During the pursuit, officers deployed a tack strip which disabled the suspect's vehicle near Elk Grove-Florin Road and Halverson Drive.  Officers then detained Hicks without incident.

A search of Hicks led to the discovery of a loaded concealed handgun and a vehicle search led to the recovery of five handguns (two were reported stolen), two zip guns, two rifles, a taser and a controlled substance.

Hicks was also positively identified by the original caller as the person responsible for brandishing the handgun. Hicks is in custody at the county jail ineligible for bail and is facing six felony and three misdemeanor charges.
