TRACY-
Tracy Police say a K-9 injured a juvenile Thursday night.
According to police, an officer was returning to his car to respond to a call for service when he saw that the back door was open and his K-9 partner was missing.
Responding to the call on Cherry Blossom Lane, police say the K-9 had caused “minor” injuries to the child and neighbors were restraining the dog.
The child was treated for his injuries at the hospital and his parents were notified.
According to police, the officer’s car has a back door that can be opened remotely and investigators are working to figure out how the door could have opened without the officer’s knowledge.
For the time being, the car has been taken out of service.
