RANCHO CORDOVA-

Saturday thousands of motorcycle racing fans gathered at the Prairie City SVRA track east of Rancho Cordova for the GoPro Hangtown Motocross Classic.

This is the 47th year the race has come to Northern California.

The racers themselves are some of the top motocross riders in the world and many have a huge following of fans.

Organizers estimated around 25 thousand spectators came out to take in the action, some arriving as early as 7 o’clock in the morning.

That’s pumping about $10 million into the local economy, according to an event spokesperson.

The race is part of the AMA’s National Motocross Championship Series.
