Grant Gish‘s ascent continues.
20th Century Fox TV’s director of animation development has been promoted to vp animation for the studio, it was announced today. The move comes as Gish’s group looks to add to its lucrative cartoon coffers, which include billion-dollar franchises The Simpsons and Family Guy.
“Grant is a bright, talented executive who has been managing our hugely important animation development efforts, and this promotion recognizes the great work he’s been doing as we look to find that next big cartoon hit,” said president of creative affairs Jonnie Davis, to whom Gish will report.
During his tenure, Gish, who appeared on The Hollywood Reporter‘s Next Generation list in 2012, has helped develop the Emmy-winning animated series Bob’s Burgers and the upcoming Bordertown, from Mark Hentemann and Seth MacFarlane, and runs point on MacFarlane’s American Dad. Looking ahead, he has projects in various stages of development from producers Chris Miller and Phil Lord (The Lego Movie), the Wreck-It Ralph team of Phil Johnston and Rich Moore, and Ryan Reynolds.
Davis added of the creative executive: “He’s been laser-focused on identifying new and untapped talent, while at the same time building meaningful relationships with our established producers. I’m happy to announce his elevation to vice president.”
The newly married Texas native joined 20th TV after a stint at Tom Werner‘s Good Humor TV, where he worked on HBO’s animated series The Life & Times of Tim. During that time, he also helped develop the animated pilot for Good Vibes, which later went to series at MTV. Gish got his start as a page in the NBC Page Program before working in comedy development at the network.
