It’s just one piece of about 9,000 tons of steel that will part of the new Kings arena downtown, but the particular beam will be different from the rest.

For starters, it’s purple.

It will also be the center piece of Kings Owner Vivek Ranadive’s office inside of the team’s practice facility.

It was one of 50 beams that were erected Wednesday, using steel from Schuff Steel out of Stockton with help from Rocklin’s Pacific Erectors.

The 40 foot tall team was erected at 9 a.m. Wednesday.

More than 50 workers dealt with the erection process during the day.

The first erection of a beam at the kings actually arena is expected to take place in early April.
