JoAnna Garcia Swisher is returning to her comedy roots.
The actress, who most recently played Ariel on ABC’s Once Upon a Time, has been cast as the female lead in CBS’ untitled Tommy Johnagin comedy pilot, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

The comedy, inspired by the life of comedian Johnagin, centers on a stand-up comic raising a family in the small Midwestern town where he grew up.
Garcia Swisher will play the female lead, Michelle, an accomplished pediatrician married to Tommy (Johnagin), with whom she has a daughter, Ashley.
From Warner Bros. Television, Johnagin, Justin Halpern and Patrick Schumacker will pen the script and exec produce alongside Doozer’s Bill Lawrence and Jeff Ingold.
For Garcia Swisher, the role comes as she’s poised to star in ABC’s upcoming soap Astronaut Wives Club. Her credits include comedies Reba and Better With You. She’s repped by WME and John Carrabino Management.
