A Star Wars fan had the send off of his dreams, as six stormtroopers led his funeral procession.

Friends and family said goodbye to father-of-four Gordon Deacon, with a special tribute from a galaxy far, far away.

The 58-year-old, from Llanedeyrn in Cardiff, died last month after battling pancreatic and liver cancer, reports Wales Online.

He was a big Liverpool Football Club fan which was also reflected in today’s service at St Margaret’s Church in Roath.

Mourners were asked to wear red rather than black and many opted to wear Liverpool shirts.

Gordon’s wife Marilyn said: “He was mad on Star Wars.

"We went to see the first film in 1977 and ever since then he was fixated with it.

“We used to go to shows and he had a signed photograph of Boba Fett on the wall.

"He had Star Wars lightsabres, figurines, cookie jars, the lot.”
