An Elk Grove woman was arrested last night following a hit and run incident with bicyclist.

According to Elk Grove Police, 25-year old Athena Francine Lyda was operating a motor vehicle that struck and injured a bicyclist on the 5600 block of Whitelock Parkway. After hitting the victim, Lyda did not stop and fled the area.

A witness was able to provide a licence plate number and officers responded to the address and found Lyda seated in the car. The suspect was arrested for California Vehicle Code 20001(B)(1) and could face up to one year imprisonment if convicted. The suspect has been released on bail.

The victim was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

Sad to see another cyclist being struck in a hit and run accident. Hopefully they'll be ok. Great job done by the witness to ID the license plate number. The drivers problems are much worse because she fled the scene. The driver might have not even been at fault but fleeing the scene is crazy.
