Middle-Earth: Shadows of Mordor, the video game that bridges the gap between J.R.R. Tolkien‘s The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings, hits stores today and to celebrate its release, one final trailer has been released to introduce the storyline to newcomers.
The game allows players to play as Talion, a ranger killed by the forces of Sauron who ends up resurrected as a spirit of vengeance out for revenge against everyone he believes has ever wronged him. For fans of the Tolkien stories, two important characters from the novels are central to the game: Gollum (voiced by Liam O’Brien, doing an impressive impersonation of Andy Serkis‘ movie vocals) and Celebrimor, maker of the Rings of Power that are central to Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Earlier teases for the game have included a live-action short that saw Talion hunt Orcs, as well as an early look at the gameplay mode available. This final glimpse seems constructed to best appeal to those fans of Peter Jackson‘s movie versions of the Tolkien stories, with imagery and iconography echoing some of the more memorable moments of Jackson’s movies (the director’s Weta Workshop worked with Monolith Productions on the game’s development).
Shadows of Mordor is now available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC platforms, with a Nov. 18 release for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
