On Tuesday, City Council approved part of the funding for the 700 K Street development project. This $51 million project will turn current vacant buildings on 7th and 8th streets into restaurants, stores and apartments.

The area is expected to be a hot spot as it’s one block away from where the Sacramento Kings are building their new arena.

According to the Downtown Sacramento Partnership, the future of K Street and the new arena will transform the urban core of the city, brick by brick and block by block.

Construction is set to begin at the end of the year. Developers are hoping to complete the construction by the time the new Kings arena opens in two years.
