The first photo of Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor has surfaced, courtesy of Entertainment Weekly. In the picture, Eisenberg appears to be sporting the famous Superman villain’s bald head.
Eisenberg will play Luthor in next year’s Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, which is set to hit theaters one year from today.

In Entertainment Weekly‘s piece, director Zack Snyder says that Eisenberg’s portrayal of the long-lived Superman villain — who celebrates his 75th anniversary this year — is unlike any other screen take on the character. “He’s not any of the Lexes that you’ve seen, that’s for sure,” he says, “other than him being a captain of industry and one person to the world and another person to himself. And bald, of course.”
The question of whether or not Eisenberg would go bald for the part was an open one, before now, with rumors swirling that he’d follow in the footsteps of Gene Hackman and retain his follicles throughout next year’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
For his part, Eisenberg has described the new Lex as “a complicated, challenging person” in previous interviews, saying that he and screenwriter Chris Terrio worked together “to create a real psychology behind what is, perhaps, in a comic book, a less than totally modern psychology.”
