Elk Grove Police have identified a suspect in the November 5, 2014, murder of 37-year-old Marissa Pineda De Almanza of Elk Grove.

The victim was discovered deceased inside her apartment on the 9200 block of Franklin Blvd by her husband. There were obvious signs of trauma to the victim's body, and detectives immediately began their investigation into the circumstances that led to the victim's death.

During the course of the investigation, detectives developed information that the victim's boyfriend, 38-year-old Moses Valdez, was the person responsible for the homicide. Detectives have obtained an arrest warrant for Moses Valdez, a validated gang member who has an extensive criminal history, and was on Post-Release Community Supervision (PRCS) in accordance with Assembly Bill 109. Due to the ongoing nature of this investigation, the circumstances regarding the specific details of the homicide are not being released at this time.
