UPDATE: The flash flood warning was expected to be in effect until 6:15 p.m. but was cancelled just before 5 p.m.

The National Weather Service in Sacramento has issued a flash flood warning in El Dorado and Placer counties just after 12 p.m. on Thursday.

At 12:15 p.m. the service noticed heavy rainfall over the King Fire that could lead to flash flooding and debris flows.

According to the National Weather Service, the severely burned areas are the particular concern. This includes the south and middle forks of the American River and the Rubicon river basins. These areas have experienced severe tree and plant loss, and heavy rain is likely to create excessive runoff.
