YOLO COUNTY —

Baby Justice Rees. Just before he was born, and just after. These are the last Facebook posts his Mother Samantha Green made before she was arrested for murder in the death of her 20-day-old son.

“You sit there and you look at a 20-day-old child. And you’re looking at that, and it’s tragic,” said  Yolo County Sheriff Ed Prieto.

It was Sherriff’s deputies who found the body of Justice Rees Wednesday morning in a thicket on the south bank of Ridge Cut slough.

An autopsy would later suggest drowning, or hypothermia as the cause of death.

Samantha Green had come out of the same area Tuesday evening, claiming she’d been abducted.

“We were not able to establish any validity to that at all,” Prieto said.

After interviewing Samantha Green multiple times, and devoting what Prieto says is hundreds of man hours to the case, detectives say are sure they’ve got the right person. But Prieto says they still have no idea why.

“No… Not at this point. We don’t have any particular motive at this point, no,” said Prieto.
