The new international trailer for The Gunman gives more details on Sean Penn‘s sniper snafu.
“We thought we were helping — it didn’t work out that way,” he explains in the latest trailer. “It’s the biggest mistake I ever made.”
Turns out that a job he was involved with has its own deadly repercussions — as one newsreel describes it, “The unclaimed assassination has triggered violent confrontations and a growing humanitarian catastrophe.”
Adapting Jean-Patrick Manchette’s novel The Prone Gunman, the Pierre Morel film stars Penn as a former special forces soldier and military contractor suffering from post-traumatic stress who tries to get back with his long-time love, but first has to clear his name in a race across Europe.
The action thriller also features Javier Bardem, Idris Elba, Ray Winstone, Mark Rylance and Jasmine Trinca.
