You may have seen pictures floating around of a jacked-up Jake Gyllenhaal ready to throw down in Antoine Fuqua's SOUTHPAW, and now it's time to see those muscles in motion! SOUTHPAW follows that of left-handed boxer Billy Hope (Gyllenhaal) as he fights his way to the top, only to find the facets of his personal life falling apart. You'll believe Bubble Boy can fight in the first trailer for this boxing drama!
Gyllenhaal looks like he's going to deliver the goods, as he usually does, although the trailer probably gives away more than it should. Either way, you know what you're getting into with Fuqua's (THE EQUALIZER, OLYMPUS HAS FALLEN) latest who's delivered consistent, if not predictable, material as of late. The actor and director's relationship proved fruitful enough for them to reteam on the upcoming drug tale, THE MAN WHO MADE IT SNOW, so hopefully that bodes well for the finished product of SOUTHPAW.
SOUTHPAW hits theaters on July 31, 2015.
