Use on cuts and burns....chickens too!

Although the Aloe Vera plant looks a lot like a cactus, it's actually a member of the lily and onion family......native to North Africa. That's it..... in front of the thorn-less cactus.....in the photoshop picture above.

Many households knows that this member of the lily and onion family is great to use on cuts and burns..... where ever else us humans have an "owee". So why the heck am I talking about aloe Vera?

Let's take the time machine back ....about six years....to here on our farm. We just bought this rubbish infused land that happened to have a home on it....and a barn that was a prime example of dry rot from Hell. Out front along the road was a perfect spot to plant a truck load of cactus.......so my employee from my landscaping business thought.....as he show up with a truck load of cactus!

Si .....we planted the 40 pieces of single pads Opuntia Ficus Indica AKA thorn-less prickly pear cactus. Six years later.....it is 8 feet tall, 6 feet wide and 40 feet long of a hedge. This is after I have harvested it many times.

Harvesting? Yes.....I experimented with grinding this stuff up ......adding other natural ingredients....for chicken feed. It worked so well....the farm planted over 500 linear feet this past 18 months.....gearing up to expand our chicken flock up to 300 birds.

We have the best eggs anywhere. The yolks are darn near orange....not that yucky yellow that you'll find from a supermarket egg. Each week we get sold out. Now you know why we are planting cactus all over the road fencing......

So what the heck does all this have to do with the aloe Vera plant ? Our Opuntia Ficus Indica is great on the ol' owee. It has more "medicine" effect that the aloe....by far.

Did you know that the juice of a prickly pear.....will lower your blood pressure? Ease the pain of your joints? If you are in the natural lifestyle....then you should research  Opuntia Ficus Indica.

Now you know why the heck I was talking about aloe Vera.
