SACRAMENTO-

The Centers for Disease Control sent an advisory Thursday to doctors across the country, saying this year’s flu vaccine only partially protects against the season’s predominant strain of the virus.

Experts believe the shot lost some of its efficacy because the virus is changing.

“This is just what happens in nature, viruses change,” pediatrician Jackie Agee said. “There’s this thing call antigenic drift.”

Agee says if you do come down with the flu, anti-viral medications can be prescribed, and rest and lots of fluids is the best remedy.
