EL DORADO COUNTY-

A homeowner scared off two would-be robbers, firing a warning shot and then accidentally hitting one with his car.

Early Thursday morning, El Dorado County Sheriff’s deputies were called to a home along Metate Trail, there were reports of two men arguing and gunshots being fired.

Investigators say a homeowner saw the two men on his property allegedly stealing items. He tried to approach the two men, but they ran off. The homeowner got in his car, and fired a warning shot at the two men. He then tried to get in front of one of the men, when he hit him with his car.

The second suspect was found nearby, by a Placerville Police K-9. He was booked into the El Dorado County Jail for resisting arrest and theft-related charges. The first suspect was taken to the hospital for treatment.
