Shailene Woodley has been tapped to receive the MTV Trailblazer Award, which “recognizes actors who are blazing a distinctive and innovative path for their Hollywood peers,” at the MTV Movie Awards in April, The Hollywood Reporter has learned exclusively.
The 23-year-old will be presented with the honor by Miles Teller, with whom she previously co-starred in The Spectacular Now (2013) and Divergent (2014) and with whom she is now appearing in the sci-fi thriller Insurgent.
The award’s previous recipients were Emma Watson, Emma Stone and Channing Tatum.
“Shailene Woodley is one of the most talented actresses of this generation,” said Stephen Friedman, president of MTV. “Whether baring her soul in emotionally charged roles in The Descendants and The Fault in Our Stars or igniting our imagination in sci-fi blockbusters like Insurgent, Shailene has raised the bar for actresses navigating diverse and challenging roles professionally, while personally remaining down-to-earth and accessible to her fans.”
The MTV Awards, which will take place at the Nokia Theatre and be hosted by Amy Schumer, will be broadcast on MTV at 8 p.m. EST and 8 p.m. PST on Sunday, April 12.
