The previously announced Avengers: Rage of Ultron graphic novel won’t be the only place comic readers can find Marvel Entertainment’s genocidal robot in the run-up to the release of Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Age of Ultron next May. The publisher announced Wednesday an additional storyline featuring Avengers of the past, present and future to accompany the movie’s release, with the title Ultron Forever.
Written by Captain America and the Mighty Avengers’ Al Ewing with art by Alan Davis, the storyline will run through three extra-long issues — Avengers: Ultron Forever No. 1, New Avengers: Ultron Forever No. 1 and Uncanny Avengers: Ultron Forever No. 1 — and feature superheroes from across time being brought to an Earth 50 years from now that has been conquered by Ultron, including Iron Man, Black Widow and multiple Thors.

“My first thing with teams is if you put two of them in a room together, have you got a story?” Ewing told the Hero Complex blog about his heroic selections. “And I think with this bunch, it’s definitely true. There are in the story reasons why they’ve been taken from the particular times and places they have been.”
Editor Tom Brevoort is well aware of the purpose of these comics. “The tremendous success of these films means far, far more people are aware of and interested in these characters and the stories that go on with them,” he told Hero Complex. “So as people are getting excited and seeing the latest Age of Ultron trailer, these comics will be coming out to whet their appetite for the film and to feed their hunger for information as to what the big robot guy with the strings is all about.”
Ultron Forever launches in April 2015.
