After months of waiting, the Sutter County Board of Supervisors finally has five members again.
Barbara LeVake, 68, was appointed on Thursday to represent the 5th District of the Board of Supervisors by Gov. Jerry Brown.
"I'm honored and pleased that the governor selected me to represent District 5, which I'm familiar with," said LeVake, who has lived in the district for 40 years.
It will be LeVake's second time serving as a supervisor. She was elected in 1988 and served until 1992, when she lost a re-election bid to Dick Akin.
LeVake will fill the vacancy created when James Gallagher was elected to the Assembly in November.
She said her priorities on the board would be flood control and public safety. She also said she would be involved in regional issues, such as supporting the construction of Sites Reservoir.
LeVake has been principal at Brazil-LeVake Government Relations since 1995. She is a member of the Sutter Butte Flood Control Agency, Yuba-Sutter Farm Bureau, Western Growers Association and California Women for Agriculture.
LeVake was a member of the State Reclamation Board from 1994-2001.
Her salary will be $34,736.
Lal Chima and Mat Conant also applied for the position.
Karm Bains submitted his name before withdrawing last week.
