While many people noshed on turkey or ham today, some got their protein from another source, a six-legged source.

Crickets are becoming a popular food option. Exo, short for exoskeleton, is one company leading the cricket revolution.

“We had live crickets show up on our doorstep; ordered them through the mail. And we put them in our freezer, and then put them in the oven and put them in the blender and basically made this powder on our own,” Greg Sewitz, co-founder Exo, said.

After six months of sales, they are started to establish themselves in healthfood stores.

Now, they are not alone and face increasing competition from other companies looking to get in on insect protein.
