A desperate husband can now thank Judy Blume for getting him out of the doghouse.

The plea of a Brooklyn man searching for help after mistakenly tossing his wife's beloved copy of "Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret" into a giveaway box has been answered by the author herself. After posting flyers around Brooklyn begging for anyone who may have picked up the book to return it, Lenny Lasek's plea came to Blume's attention, who sent his wife, Katie Ligon, a brand new copy signed by her. Blume posted the reaction of the happy wife on her Facebook and Twitter pages on Monday.

"Judy Blume's kindness during all of this has been incredibly uplifting,'' Ligon told TODAY.com. "I'm so happy to have received a signed copy of the book from her and that she has become part of this wild story."

Blume brought an end to Lasek and Frigon's saga after his request for help had been passed around on social media.

"I accidentally gave this book away on Saturday July 25th in a box on the corner of Green & Franklin Streets in Greenpoint," he wrote on the poster seen throughout Brooklyn. "The book is extremely important to my wife. It was a keepsake from her mother and is irreplaceable. On the inside cover is a note that reads 'Christmas 1991.' If you happened to pick up this book can you please get in touch with me."

Blume promised to help Lasek out and delivered with the signed book for Katie, who is still hoping to recover her original copy in case anyone out there stumbles across it.

"This story will have a happy ending,'' Blume told TODAY.com on July 31. "Here's a guy who cares enough to try to get his wife's book back. If he does, great. If he doesn't, she'll forgive him. Either way, I'm sending her a signed book."
