DAVIS —

A false report of a gunman on a junior high campus in Davis put the school on lockdown and police, as well as parents, into a frenzy.

At around 1:15 this afternoon, police were sent to Emerson Jr. High due to a report of a gunman on campus. The caller didn’t say much after reporting the supposed gunman and hung up the phone.

Davis Police completed a thorough search of the campus, but could not find a gunman. Police later called the incident a “prank.”

The school was put on lockdown for about 90 minutes.

Police took two juveniles into custody, but would not say if they were Emerson students. The two are suspected of making the prank call.

Parents were notified via school messenger and were able to pick up their children at the normal release time.
