Tipp FM launch revamped weekday schedule

Local radio listeners in the Premier County will have noticed some changes this week with the launch of a new week day schedule on Tipp FM.

Former Station Manager, Fran Curry has stepped into the hot seat as host of the Tipp Today mid-morning programme which now runs from 9 to 12 having previously aired from 9 to 11 following the retirement of long term host Seamus Martin.

Commenting on the new show Mr Curry said: “It’s a huge honour to take over one of the longest running news and current affairs programme in the country. Seamus has left big shoes to fill but I am very excited about this new challenge. With the extra hour we have the opportunity to do things a little differently than before whilst still tackling all the big issues that affect our listeners.”

The station’s breakfast show,  ‘The Breakfast BLT’ with Brian and Lorraine remains unchanged,  airing from 6 to 9 weekdays,  but can now also be heard on Saturday mornings from 7 to 9 as “The Breakfast BLT’s Best Bits”, a look back at the week that was on the show.

Elsewhere, former afternoon host Keith Fahey takes over the drive time show “The Home Run” with the promise to bring the best music mix to listeners across the county and beyond.

Station stalwart Carol Power moves from the drive time slot to the afternoon where she will front “The Classic Café” and “Country Café” between 12 and 3pm.

Shay Searson brings a brand new show to the schedule in the shape of The Platinum Hour, weekday evenings from 6 to 7 which will feature all the best hits from across the decades.

Speaking at the launch of the revamped schedule new Head of Operations Sarah McCormack said: “We’re thrilled with the new line-up. Brian and Lorraine came on board for the new breakfast show in March and the listeners have already taken them to their hearts with their unique brand of morning radio. Fran is one of the country’s most experienced broadcasters and already has a great relationship with listeners and we are very excited that he is bringing his considerable talents to Tipp Today. With Keith and Carol we have two very experienced presenters, who have a proven track record of connecting with listeners”.

Tipp FM’s new schedule kicked off on Monday August 31st.
