VACAVILLE —

A chase between California Highway Patrol and a suspect led to the arrest of a Stockton parolee Friday night around 10:43 p.m.

Joseph Ralph Martinez, 27, was fleeing on I-80 west when he crashed into an embankment near Allison Drive. He proceeded to get out of the car and flee on foot across all lanes onto the eastbound side.

The suspect left his wallet behind making it easy for authorities to identify him.

Vacaville PD helped by setting up a perimeter after the suspect was spotted near Petco on Nut Tree Parkway.

The suspect was caught after a CHP helicopter identified a heat source with its infra red system. They used a K9 to apprehend Martinez after he refused to come out of the bushes.

He was booked into Solano County Jail and charged with felony evading in a vehicle, driving under the influence of drugs, possession of methamphetamine, resisting arrest and violation of parole.
