Damon Albarn promised a return of his animated Gorillaz project last October but has since been silent. Now his co-creator and the band’s comic artist Jamie Hewlett has posted new artwork of the group’s beloved fictional members Murdoc and Noodle to his Instagram page, suggesting the band’s comeback is near.
When a fan asked if the new images meant the band would live again, as REVOLT reports, Hewlett responded to the post, “Yes Gorillaz Returns.”

A new album would be the band’s fifth, following The Fall from 2011. For some time it was unclear whether the project would ever be revived, following a public fallout between Hewlett and Blur frontman Albarn. But the men later reconciled.
