SACRAMENTO-

Placer County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a man suspected in a deadly Friday night stabbing at a West Roseville birthday party.

Detectives arrested 22-year-old Zachary Gonzalez at his Sacramento apartment complex Sunday evening.

According to investigators, a fight broke out in front of a home on Lanie Court. Friends say victim Andrew Petrenko had recently gotten out of jail and was trying to turn his life around.

“The conflict was very quick,” Lt. John Poretti of the Placer County Sheriff’s Office said. “There were some words exchanged. Then the subject got out of his vehicle, went over to the victim. They had a quick scuffle.”

Gonzalez was booked into the Placer County Jail in Auburn for murder. He will be arraigned Tuesday.
