A car chase in Marysville on Sunday ended with a dramatic wreck, according to a witness.
"The car came around on my right side and jumped the embankment, hit the utility pole mid-air and flipped about three times," said Brittnee Lanier, who witnessed the final moments of the chase at about 9 p.m.
According to Lt. Chris Sachs of the Marysville Police Department, the incident happened at about 8:45 p.m.
"Officers witnessed a reckless driver cutting off vehicles," Sachs said. "They initiated a stop at East 18th Street, but the vehicle fled."
The pursuit ended near Highway 70 and East 24th Street in Marysville.
After the car rolled, "the cops came around my right and had their guns drawn on the driver," said Lanier.
Marysville Police, the California Highway Patrol, Marysville Fire and Bi-County Ambulance Service were on scene.
A 1980s white 4-door Honda Accord was right side up with a partially collapsed roof and driver's side damage.
"It was later found out it was a stolen vehicle," Sachs said.
According to police, the driver and the passenger, both males in their 20s, were transferred to Rideout Hospital.
The driver had major injuries, while the passenger had minor injuries and was later released.
"It was scary," Lanier said.
