The Voice, slightly improving its Tuesday lot from last week, was a welcome lead-in for Chicago Fire. The NBC drama surged 57 percent from its last original, thanks in large part to the singing competition. Chicago Fire averaged a 2.2 rating among adults 18-49 after The Voice posted a 4.1 in the key demo — a two-tenths lift from the comparable night last week.

Agents of SHIELD returned steady with a 1.6 rating among adults 18-49, ceding its Tuesday leader status on the ABC lineup to Fresh Off the Boat. The comedy, steady with a 1.7 demo rating and 6 million viewers, was the network’s top entry of the night. Repeat After Me (1.2 adults) and Forever (1.0 adults) were both steady.
Hell’s Kitchen (1.4 adults) returned to Fox’s hour of revolving Gordon Ramsay offerings steady with its last premiere score. New Girl (1.3 adults) and The Mindy Project (1.0 adults) were steady as ever at 9 p.m.
Both CBS and The CW aired repeats.
