Having survived two extremely close elections, Congressman Dr. Ami Bera (D - Elk Grove) continues to generate large amounts of cash for the 2016 election.

According to documents filed with the Federal Election Commission, the second term Congressman representing California's 7th district, raised $420,000 in the second quarter ending June 30. With this, Bera has $685,000 in his campaign's fund.

"I'm proud and humbled that Sacramento County families continue to support this campaign," Bera said. "I thank them for their faith in me, and promise to continue to fight for them in Washington and to put them ahead of politics."

In 2014's race, Bera barely edged out Republican challenger and former Congressman Doug Ose. Because of the influx of outside independent expenditures on both sides, the Bera-Ose race was the most expensive congressional contest in the country for that election cycle.

The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) has indicated that Bera, along with fellow Democratic Congressman John Garamendi (D - Walnut Grove), will be targeted candidates during the 2016 cycle. Although Bera's seat is once again seen as possible pick-up by the NRCC, no renown Republican has announced a candidacy.

The NRCC did not return an email inquiry seeking comments on Bera's fundraising results.
