Fancy Nancy, now in its 10th year, includes more than 60 titles, has sold more than 28 million books and has been translated into 20 languages. Its 2005 debut spent nearly 100 weeks on the NYT best-seller list. The children’s picture book series geared at kids ages 2-7 was written by Jane O’Connor and illustrated by Robin Preiss Glasser. The stories follow the adventures of a girl who likes to be fancy in everything, from her attire to advanced vocabulary.
In addition to Disney Junior’s TV and consumer products, Disney Publishing will also team with Publisher HarperCollins on subsequent book editions based on the forthcoming TV series.
“Children have been captivated by Fancy Nancy’s wit and irrepressible spirit for a decade, and we are very eager to give her an even bigger stage on which to perform,” Disney Junior Worldwide GM Nancy Kanter said.
