Two Innovation Workshops to support the Age Friendly Smart City Programme

As part of our ongoing Age Friendly Smart City programme we are delighted to offer two unique workshops that focus on designing with older people. These sessions focus on collaboration, communication and new learning.

Who can attend: The sessions are free to attend and open to older residents, service providers and technologists. Participants are welcome to attend one, or both, of the workshops. We hope you can attend.

ABOUT THE WORKSHOPS:

Workshop One, Play with the City 10:00AM - 12:30PM
Play with the City

LEGO® Serious Play® is a fun and experiential process designed to stimulate and empower participants to solve problems collaboratively. In this session we're inviting you to explore what an age-friendly smart city means. This is an opportunity for older residents, neighbourhood networks, technologists and service providers to share perspectives and communicate together in a hands-on manner by conjuring meaning through story making.

Workshop Two, Re-Designing Death: 2:00PM - 4:30PM

Re-Designing Death

There is a lot you can do to commemorate your loved ones. In the last century we've outsourced funeral practices, giving all our knowledge and power concerning death and funerals to the industry. It is now time to take back charge and do things as we want them to be done. The Re-Designing Death Movement is a dynamic team of researchers, designers and undertakers that want to break the taboo around dying. We believe that death has its place in the life cycle. In this workshop you will design the funeral journey for a fictional character. In this interactive and playful session, you will enrich your knowledge and have a soft entry point into one of life's most difficult topics.

Agenda:

Workshop One: Play with the City
10:00AM - 12:30PM

Workshop Two: Re-Designing Death
2:00PM - 4:30PM

Tea and Coffee will be provided. If you are planning to attend both sessions please note that lunch is not provided and food is not allowed to be brought into Civic Hall; however there are many cafes/restaurants nearby.
