LOS ANGELES (AP) — Six people, including a 4-month-old child, have been rescued after their boat caught fire near Venice Beach.

Los Angeles County lifeguards say the 35-foot powerboat was about 200 yards off the beach when it caught fire Saturday afternoon. Those aboard jumped into the water with the infant.

Nobody was injured.

It took about 10 minutes to douse the flames, which sent a huge plume of black smoke drifting over the beach.

There’s no word on what sparked the blaze.
