NAPA —

A turn of for the worse for this Napa County bridge after the second significant earthquake in this area in less than a year.

It’s not hard to see the crack, even if it weren’t marked with yellow spray paint, running from one side of the deck to the other.

Napa County has closed Oakville Cross here, and says it will stay closed.

There were plans to remove this aging bridge anyway, according to the county.

The recent quake just made the situation more urgent.

It was enough to make anyone shake, even long after the quake itself stopped.

But now it’s traffic being stopped, turned around, and forced to find another way across the river.
