FAIR OAKS —

One man has been arrested in relation to a shooting death outside of Bannister Park Friday night.

Sacramento Sheriff’s Deputies received a call in the late evening that a man had been shot near the river access and bike trail area outside of Bannister Park. When deputies arrived, they found the victim about 250 yards south of the trail.

The victim, a Hispanic male in his early to mid 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives responded and conducted an investigation. As a result, 21-year-old Elijah Ray Lambert was arrested and booked into the Sacramento County Jail on a charge of homicide.

According to detectives, an early report by people contacted during the investigation of a motive of robbery proved to be false. Detectives believe the victim, a person whom Lambert knew, was killed unintentionally.

Lambert is being held without bail and will be in court on May 27.
